Information Is Not Authority

The timing of all of this gave me a wonderful little joke.

Shortly after contemplating webs, routing, and sovereignty,

I received a notification from a credit-monitoring service:

My email address had apparently been found on the dark web.

Of course it had.

😂

Reality occasionally has impeccable comedic timing.

But it also gave me a perfect demonstration.

I received information.

I could determine whether any practical action was needed.

And then I could continue living my life.

I didn't need to climb into the web to understand every strand.

Something reaching me does not give it authority over me.

Information is information.

Relationship is relationship.

Authority is authority.

They are not automatically the same thing.
